I'm at SILMO 2026, on stage
On 26 September I give a SILMO Talk at Paris Nord Villepinte. Here's why this stage matters to me.
This year I return to SILMO, the world's optics fair, after two years. And I return differently: not as a visitor, but on stage. Saturday 26 September, from 2 to 3 pm, I give a SILMO Talk titled What Really Defines an Independent Optician?.
Where it comes from
For a few months now I've been living half my time in the United Kingdom. It's not a logistical detail: living my profession from another country has forced me to stop thinking about it only the Italian way. I started looking at it from a European perspective, and this talk is born exactly there. Knowing it is one thing, experiencing it daily is another.
What I bring
On stage I talk about who the independent optician really is, and I try to overturn a definition we almost always take for granted: it's not size that defines them, but the freedom to choose and the ability to be recognised.
And I bring something I care about particularly: during the Talk I present a project I've been working on for months, a first for the sector. I won't say more. Those who are there will discover it first.
